Artists and calligraphers from Iraq and various countries, including Iran, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, and Indonesia, gathered in Dhi Qar province for a vibrant calligraphy festival. The event showcased over 50 stunning artworks, predominantly in the Thuluth script, alongside pieces in Jali, Diwani, Persian, and contemporary styles.

The festival drew widespread attention from art enthusiasts and the local community, reflecting the deep appreciation for Arabic calligraphy as a cultural treasure. According to Alahwar-TV, the opening ceremony featured remarks from Ahmed Farhan Al-Khafaji, a member of the Dhi Qar Provincial Council, who emphasized the art form’s integral role in Iraq’s cultural identity. He also commended the artists for their contributions to the festival’s success.

One of the standout participants was the “Wal-Qalam” calligraphy center, affiliated with the Dar-ol Quran of the Imam Hussein (AS) shrine. The center showcased Quranic calligraphy pieces, enriching the event’s spiritual and artistic dimensions.

This celebration of calligraphy highlighted its enduring significance and brought together talents from across the region, fostering a deeper connection to Arabic script’s artistic and cultural legacy.
