Albayrak Group, known for its decade-long tradition of presenting curated calligraphy collections during Ramadan, has transformed 12 exquisite Islamic calligraphy artworks into a unique calendar. Over the years, themes such as Kalima Tawhid, Verses of Faith, Verses of Peace, and Basmala Sharif have been showcased, capturing the essence of Islamic spirituality through the pens of master calligraphers.

For 2025, the theme “Justice” has been chosen to draw attention to the plight of oppressed Muslim communities, particularly in Palestine. The Albayrak Calligraphy Art Exhibition incorporates traditional, three-dimensional, and digital artworks, emphasizing messages of justice, compassion, and brotherhood. The exhibition is open to visitors until January 27, 2025.

In addition to the art display, engaging events such as the Ketebe Conversations—featuring prominent artists—are scheduled for January 25 and 26. These sessions aim to deepen the audience’s appreciation for Islamic calligraphy. During the opening ceremony, hosted by Nur Haktan, Hafiz Alpcan Çelik from Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha Mosque recited the Quran.

Notable attendees included the Chairman of the Turkish Parliament’s Interior Affairs Commission and former Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, Istanbul’s Director of Culture and Tourism Hüseyin Keskin, and esteemed artists Mehmed Özçay, Uğur Derman, and Çiçek Derman. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests from the political and art communities toured the exhibition and took commemorative photos.

Speaking at the event, Selim Terzi, General Director of Living Heritage and Cultural Activities at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, highlighted Albayrak Group’s successful Basmala Sharif exhibitions from the previous year, which were showcased across various cities in Turkey as part of the Turkey Cultural Route Festivals.

This exhibition not only preserves the timeless art of calligraphy but also underscores its relevance in addressing contemporary social and humanitarian issues.
